Sustainable IT ensures the long-term viability of the company. We explore why this fact still needs to be explained daily, especially when it comes to personnel and budgetary resources allocated for sustainability and specifically for Sustainable IT. Using the example of the energy utility KELAG-Kärntner Elektrizitäts-Aktiengesellschaft, it is shown how a sustainability strategy aligned with the corporate strategy, combined with active IT sustainability management, increases the company’s value. We demonstrate which actions for IT can lead to rapid success and which established IT sustainability indicators are particularly valuable for the Kelag Group, especially regarding critical infrastructure.
